This year brought about a few changes from last year. We had a new lodging facility, Oasis Baptist Church which was a perfect location so the volunteers could get to their sites within 30 minutes in any direction. Oasis was an old RV/Boat storage building turned Church and Christian school. Even though there wasn’t any kitchen facility, the food turned out pretty darn good if you ask me. It also boasted rooms that had A/C and private outdoor showers. Rounding out the 5 Star amenities was Whitney Ranch Recreational Center and Aquatics Complex just a few blocks away that offered showers and a chance to swim during free time at camp for just $2. We had nine different ministries and partner organizations that we teamed up with this year to serve. We had groups from Colorado, California, Utah, and Arizona come in and serve Las Vegas.

This year the summer staff who came to run the summer camps were Jamie and Alli. They spent a month before camp training and preparing for camp week. Jamie was extremely punctual and did a fantastic job organizing. Alli led amazing evening programs and did a fabulous job in the kitchen preparing food (even with no actual kitchen). All the credit goes to them on how smooth the camp ran this summer! Great job girls!

One of the volunteers had a convertible mustang for a rental car. Goes well with their red shirts!

One cool thing that stood out this summer, was that a church group from California came to Week of Hope Las Vegas last year and decided to come back again this summer. One of the female adult volunteers I was talking with served at Club Christ last year and she received the same assignment this year! Her youth group enjoyed all the projects and the chance to build on their relationships with those they helped with the prior year.

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. – 1 John 4:7-8
